Expert "20" Double Built bamboo fly rod w/ two tips NR

This auction is for a split-cane bamboo fly rod inked Expert "20" Double Built. 9' three-piece rod with two tips is one of Montague's highest grade rods right up there with the Manatou, Redwing and Fishkill. As Cross held the patent on the double-built process, some believe the blanks for these rods were made by the Cross Rod Co. All sections are full length and complete without any repairs or damage. Rod looks to have possibly been over-coated at some point. Varnish is still good but shows age with a few chips and minor heat damage on a few flats on the handle section - should polish out fairly easy - see photos. 5 1/2" cork grip is in good condition with no ridging - could use a cleaning. Original light brown guides with red tipping are still good but several could use some varnish. One snake guide on mid section has been rewrapped with incorrect thread color. Hook keeper wrap needs attention (might be able to glue down loose thread or may need to be re-wrapped - see photos). Ferrules still good - male ferrules measure .174 and .276 - tips to mid separate with a pop and mid to butt separate with a soft pop. Large swelled butt measures .450 just above the keeper wrap. Smooth, powerful, dry-fly or tip action 6/7 wt. rod that would be great for large trout or smallmouth bass. Fishable as is but in need of some minor repair/refinish.
