Heddon Book: There was only one printing of this softcover book that was printed over 20 years ago! This is THE book to buy if you are a Heddon bamboo fly rod collector or even just a general bamboo fly rod collector as there are a lot of Heddon rods available and Heddon never built a bad rod. All Heddon rods whether a fly rod or a bait casting rod were always made with quality nickel silver ferrules, quality bamboo and nickel silver fittings for the reel seats and then they only used agate, never glass when they used agate lined stripping guides.
Other reasons to collect Heddon rods is because of this book. It details the tapers, ferrules sizes, silk thread colors used on the various model rods. It also has charts with the different types of grips and so much more detailed, organized information that makes collecting Heddon bamboo fly rods one of the easiest rods to grade and collect.
Here's a secret, Heddon made a lot of trade rods... this means they may not have the Heddon name on them. Why is this good? The uninformed rod collectors might pass up a quality trade rod and you might find a high-grade rod at a bargain price! I've bought and seen quality trade rods... The highest grade trade rod I've bought was a #35 Heddon at about 0 less than a standard marked Heddon would have cost at the time. There are still great buys to be found if you have this book!
This book for sale was purchased directly from a wholesale book distributor I think at least 15 years ago and is New Old Stock and has never been read!
I plan on selling my entire collection of Heddon bamboo fly rods in the few years and I have nearly every model from a #1000 down to a #8. So be sure to save me as a seller.
